have you looked at the web site of the Cambridgeshire Family History Society? There is a lot of info on there but I didn't have time to read it all. There may be somebody who you can contact, some societies will answer queries from non members. Ann Glos

Have you tried the local council, don't know if they can help but, if it was an important building they might be able to. Or the local newspapers. Ann Glos

hi, does anyone know where i can find out more info on a building and what it was used for/like. i have done a google search and the only info i am getting is about the current company that reside there. i been and spoken to the company that is there and all they could tell me was when they moved in etc. i have been to the tourist infomation in ely and all they could tell me was it used to be a retirement home but was closed in 1991. the building is St Mary's Lodge, st marys street ely, cambs. up until 1991 it was a retirement home for the elderly, it then stood empty until 1994 when hereward housing moved into it.
