Banns - getting hold of them?

I have just noticed, after re-reading my certificates in more detail that a set of gg grandparents were married after having banns. How do I get access to these? The couple in question are George Cooper and Keziah Purbrick in the Littleworth Parish Church, Berkshire on 19th October 1882. Thank you.

I have been lucky enough today to have taken a photocopy of the Banns of my husband's great-great-great-grandparents. I had the IGI entry of their marriage (30th January 1808) at St Peter's Church St Albans. I live just 3 miles away, so I went to the Library in St Albans and asked if they had the parish register entries. They were on microfilm. There is also an entry of their marriage in Pallot's Index of Marriages, where it states that Benjamin Tuffnall was 'of Sandridge' (a village only 2 miles away). They have the microfilm for the church there too, and I scrolled through and found a beautifully written entry at the beginning of January where it gave the three dates (Sundays) on which the Banns were issued. I didn't find them for the church in St Albans where they married, but didn't have much time to look. The entries were in the Parish Register along with the marriages, christenings and burials. So it's worth going to/contacting the local Record Office to find out if you can access them. Good luck!

Elizabeth I too found the Banns Book, slap bang in the middle of a parish register. It wasn't listed in the contents. I know I keep on and on saying this - but you MUST look at the original parish registers - you never know exactly what little gems you will find. OC

Morning, Thanks ladies. Looks like i have some investigation ahead of me - after posting this last night, I looked a little closer at some more certificates, and it seems that the majority of these were after banns. Will teach me to pay a little closer attention to them when they arrive in the post!
