I haven't been in on this, not followed the thread. Not even read it all, cos I started to get confused. But I am only about 15 miles from Chorlton upon Medlock and you sound so desperate! Can I do anything to help? I have a family member myself who lived there. Just offering, but not sure what I can do. I will read the rest of the thread and get back when I understand it all. Love Margaret

Before paying out, it might be worth trying to find out more about that address. ie. Whether it was a normal house or rather a hospital / institution. If it was not a private address, you could be disappointed with the 1911 census search. If it WAS a private address, I think I'd be tempted to go for a search. Gwyn

Some people who have already decided to get the 1911 census are actually sharing details so might be worth a look www(.)1911census(.)info/ Remove the brackets Not sure the place you are interested in is listed but might be worth keeping any eye on that site. Maureen

You can apply for 1911 census details if you have an exact address.....the charge is approx. £45.00 The census was taken, I believe, on 3rd April. If your relation was not at that address on that date, she will not show up............. Reg

I know you are probably sick of me and my Mary Ellen Goulden.I`m feeling a bit that way myself. Have received 2 more certs today with no luck.Took advice re name of Williams,Goulding as alternatives to Goulden but fruitless. Now need advice..As I am spending so much money getting certs that are not her..what about the 1911 census. I know someone said that if you have an address then you can find the info.I have her as giving birth to William Goulden on the 23/04/1911 at 38 Bridge St, Chorlton Upon Medlock. With this info do you think I should send off for the census info or keep trying to find her. Will nudge my thread back up with this if you dont understand what this is about..if I can find it....
