Hi eveyone I'm trying to trace family members but with little or no knowledge who they are. I've only got up to my grandparents and cant seem to get any further than that. I've tried the record lists but spend my time trailing through them to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much Beverley

Beverley, start with what you know for fact. If you know your grandparents names and ages you can find their birth records which would give you their parents, or marriage cert which would give you their fathers names and occupations.if you can get back to 1901 you can then start looking for matches on the censuses Linda

To begin with you would need to get your grandparents' marriage certificate which would give you the names of your grandfather's father and your grandmother's father and then you would have more information to work on. Get as much information from family members as possible as to when and where they married and then you can search through the marriage index for the certificate. If you don't have access to marriage index I could look for you if you can pinpoint roughly when they might have married otherwise you can be trawling through the indexes all day.
