Just reading my local Hertfordshire & Essex paper and there is a report from 100 years ago regarding a man caught picking flowers from a ‘gentlemen’s garden’. Somewhere out there its possible he is already in someone’s family tree, how they would love to have that newspaper cutting, I know I would if it was my relation. Does anyone know of any websites where this kind of information can be posted? I live a long way from Durham, the area where my ancestors lived, and would love to have access to newspaper stories from that area. Online newspaper archives don’t go back that far. yvonne

I know what you mean, Yvonne, it's those little stories that add so much to your family tree. It gives life to the people so they're not just names. I live in Canada on the border of New York State and there's a wonderful website there that has newpaper archives of Northern New York State. It's digitalized so you just have to type in a name and the article comes up. How I wish other places, particularly in England had such a site! Margaret

Hi Linda, I have looked on the boards but never seen any information regarding newspaper cuttings. I was hoping someone would know of a site dedicated to newspaper articles. Thanks anyway Yvonne

Hi Margaret, You are so lucky, I hope that newspapers in this country follow, it really does add interest to tracing your family history if you can obtain extra information, it helps to build a picture of the past. Yvonne
