Rose, I think you have got them! I had found George using the batch number and parked it for later. I think the cordwainer clinches it. Being Smith Thomas occupation has helped me find them on the census. I had to look it up to find out that it was a soft shoe maker -Thomas's occupation on later census Thank you all so very very much JA |

Using the same batch number from IGI a George Brett married Fanny in 1817. Here's the family in 1841, transcribed as Brell. Caroline should be 20. 1841 England Census about George Brell Name: George Brell Age: 47 Estimated birth year: abt 1794 Gender: Male Where born: Surrey, England Civil parish: Wonersh Hundred: Blackheath (First Division) County/Island: Surrey Country: England Registration district: Hambledon Sub-registration district: Cranley Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Benjamin Brell 12 Carline Brell 90 Elizabeth Brell 6 Francis Brell 47 George Brell 47 Charles Creckey 40 Thomas Wood 30 George is a cordwainer as is Thomas Smith. Yes Scarlet -they were in Byfleet in 1951, thanks for that Pam, thanks for the marriage details - it would have taken me ages to find it as I am not familiar with that part of the UK and registration districts - Wonersh is obviously part of that district from what you say Thank goodnes for being able to order certificates online -a boom for us GRs in Australia JA |

The IGI says a Caroline Brett was married to a Thomas Smith in Wonersh on 26 December 1846 The 1851 census says their first son Edwrd was born in Wonersh age then 4 IGI has an Edward christened Wonersh 22 Feb 1847 I only got Alfred's birth certificate yesterday which confirmed his mother's maiden name as Carolone Brett so have yet to send off for the marriage cert JA |
