Are the lists of medal cards complete? I know my grandad's full name, and the regiment he was in, but he's not coming up... Sheila

Hi Carol. Quite possible to have served in both battles. Gallipoli finished Dec 1915, Somme ran from 1 Jul 1916. The Royal Fusiliers were one of the many regiments who served in both. The pension records for other letters will be released in mid 2008 I believe. There about 370 medal cards for Thomas Lever. You may ned to refine your search a little. Regards Keith

If he survived the war he should have a medal card, which you can find here: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/medals.asp They don't contain much information, but it will have the name of his regiment, so you can then search to see which battles it was involved in. This site is very helpful for WW1, and has a very good forum: http://www.1914-1918.net How to interpret medal cards: http://www.1914-1918.net/mics.htm Once you know his regiment, you may be able to get his service record at Kew.

If he survived both of those campaigns, he was indeed lucky! Reg
