I think because JHB was a general labourer, he may have worked there, he could very easily have married there and then came here to live. I will keep on trying the searching bit. Thanks for your help though. Regards Chris

There is nothing for Jane Barker Devlin on Ancestry. I hate to say this, but.........Devlin is Irish......... Could she have originated - and married - over there? Reg

Thanks Reg, I am new to this. I am looking for ancestors of the above. The family that is left dont know anything of the past. It seems as if the parents didnt talk of the past. I have looked under BMD and also traveller sites but no luck yet. Will keep looking, as you suggest maybe one at a time would be best. Thanks for your time though. Regards Chris

Was John the eldest child? If not, do you know who? And when? Were the parents married? Have you looked for the marriage? Reg

Please can anyone help, I am doing my husbands family tree and I have hit that brick wall. His parents are John Henry Barker Hayes 1907 and Annie Hayes nee Firman 1912. J H B Hayes father was called William Henry and his mother was called Jane Devlin. Annie Hayes nee Firmans father was called William George and her mother was called Elizabeth Ann. Annie was born in a caravan in Durham. On the birth certificate it says her father was a travelling showman. Not sure whether circus or fairground. Annie married outside of the travellers and settled down in Stockton. I have tried various sites but have had no luck. If anyone has any ideas or any help it would be great. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everso much Chris

Where do you want to go with this? Are you looking for Ancestors? Hope you don't mind my suggesting that one name at a time is easier to cope with........... Reg
