Hi I am trying to find out some information about a ship named Charlemagne. My relation John Nunn was an able seaman on it in 1861.He was at South Basin Swansea,Glamorgan,Wales. As there are only a few members in the crew I wondered if this would be a fishing boat?Any help would be great, thanks,Suz. |

I do not know where your crew list came from but for most ships crews were only signed on for a voyage but sometimes a few were kept on for refits or loading/unloading reasons. I doubt whether a fishing boat would have had a crew list and if it did whether anyone would be described as able seamna. CB |

On the description it says the ship is from/belongs London and the description of trade is Foreign so Im guessing that it's a merchant ship. When you open up the page click on Vessel (top right) then the ships name. |
