Well, it MIGHT be worth phoning the local RO, to see if they have exactly the same information on their copy - I am just wondering if the relationship bit was missed off when it was sent to the GRO. OC

Hmmm - it OUGHT to give the relationship, if there was one. Perhaps the Registrar didnt ask. Did you get it from the GRO or the local RO? OC

Thanks again OC, I have no other member of the family by this name....! It does'nt give the relationship either sadly as it would have confirmed the deceased grandaughter Linda

That sounds fine! A 12 year old would have been working in those days, and certainly considered old enough to report a death, particularly if she was present at the death. But - anyone else of the same name? Auntie, cousin, wife, etc. Does it give a relationship to the deceased? OC

Many thanks OC, The informant on the death cert I received today could be that of my 2x gt grandmother who would have been only 12 at the time and was also present at the death. Linda

No, I don't think so. They had to be old enough to state the facts of course, but I don't think there was a minimum age. OC
