Traceline will still work, even in her married name - they use National Insurance numbers to trace people. OC

Zoe As this is not an adoption isssue, and as you know your mother's name and date of birth (but please remove it, as Reggie says) you can use the Government tracing service.(Traceline) This costs about £30, I think, and they will forward a letter to her from you - or tell you if she has died. Do make sure you use the OFFICIAL site as there is another, rip-off site, with a very similar name which charges £100s, and uses the official site anyway. OC

Zoe's Mother was not born of the given name in Plymouth in any of the following years..... 1953-54-55-56-57-58-59. So I suspect the surname was her married name? (thought it would be nice for Zoe to have her Mothers DOB details) Gerri.

Zoe I'm no expert but if I were you, I'd send for my original birth cert. That will give you your birth Mothers name. If your 18 or over, this is your right by law to find out. Gerri Good luck
