Ancestry has two types of tree: Public Trees which anyone can access and Private trees for which specific individuals will show up in searches, but to get more information, the individual needs to contact you and ask. To show Private information to an individual, I suggest that you set up a Tribal pages tree (upload the same GED that you used for ancestry) which you can password protect. If you are happy that someone should see the tree; tell them the TP user and password (you have a separate password for administering a TP tree) Beware when replying to Ancestry contacts. You can only reply to each message once! Ancestry keeps both your email and the contacter's email hidden. It is easy to lose touch with someone! |

I have been asked if someone can view my tree on Ancestry, it didnt give an E-mail no to contact the person to see if they had any connection, before I allowed access. The person wanted more info but I cant do this without letting them see my tree, it tells me on the instrctions to Click here, when I did it was only for giving access to my tree. It did mention My Family which I think is another sight. Has anyone had a similar request. Freda |
