Rosie, Come back and tell us what you think, when you eventually get the records. We will all be interested to know how much information you get. |

Elisabeth thank you for that information. Sounds like great value for money. Didnt expect it to hold WW1 records too, but if it does then thats a bonus! Will be impatient now to get the death cert as without that I cant proceed. Thanks again Rosiex |

When I received my father's WW2 information (for Home Guard duties showing dates and places he was posted - no in his own area!) it also included everything from WW1. It provided me with more information of my grandmother, as his next-of-kin, with address totally out of the area I expected her to live. It is the best £30 I have spent on family history. It was photocopies of so many pages including when he signed up in August 1914. |

Maid Marian and Sam - thank you. It certainly looks worth the money so I will definitely be sending off for these once I have obtained his death certificate as they have requested. Thanks again Rosiex |

Yes, I got my grandads WW2 records and they were well worth it. They had lots of personal information, details of his parents and siblings, complexion, hair and eye colour etc. They also listed exactly where he had been posted during the war, for how long, what periods of leave he had and all the medals he had been awarded. I think there was about 20 pages in all. Sam x |

My father's WW2 records were photocopies of every document to do with him, including details of where and when he served, of next of kin, his height, weight, colour of hair and eyes. Worth every penny, it was .. :-) |

I paid someone who was recommended to me to search the World War 1 records of my Grandfather. Unfortunately he came back with the results that he was unable to find these as they were probably burnt along with lots more at the time. He did suggest however that I write to Glasgow for information about Grandfathers World War 2 records. This I did and have received a reply eventually, asking for 30 pounds and with 2 forms to fill in. They say they have a record for my Grandfather. Whilst I dont mind paying this money I was just wondering just what sort of information do they hold on WW2 records? I am sure lots of people have used this service so please could you let me know? Many thanks. |
