I have a Bessie (she's Scottish) .. any idea what she might have been registered as? Minnie and Annie and Jeannie are all registered as spelt! Cheers. Ali

Bessie is a name in its own right, but I have an aunt who we call Bessie and her name is Elizabeth.

But Scotland's People are showing no-one with called Bessie (or anything close) on any birth search I do!

Sometimes I find with SP that less is more...try just putting the surname in and approx birth year and county and town.

Can you find Minnie, Annie or Jeannie on the IGI website? If so then look at the batch for the surname to find possibly more brothers and sisters Maureen

Bessie Cunningham aged 9 on 1901 census (1901 506/ 00 002/ 00 007) .. I can't find her brother James either! Parents: Sarah Reid and John Cunningham It's driving me up the wall today! Thanks. Ali
