It means Paralysis due to stroke

Stroke... in today's parlance. Caused either by clot or haemmorrage in the brain.M

Hello I have received a death cert today and the cause of death was apoplexy/heart disease. I have googled apoplexy but there seems to be more than one explanation. I just wondered if anyone else had an ancestor who died of this ? Cheers Marie x
