I have the same problem with 2 Irish lines preBMD, one in England one in Scotland. If they arrived early 1800' it's just before the potato famine, so they were probably here to work. London especially was growing at an incredible rate, many people from around the UK were also arriving for work, I believe that's why certain lines on my fathers side arrived then. I have found that in early census especially 1841, I think they were only required to put down the fact they came from Ireland not which county.

Hi, i have been researching my Kemps family from Scotland -all quite easy until i have a Joseph Kemps b c1800 in Ireland-it doesnt say where in Ireland he and his son are from, but i guess that they emigrated to Scotland due to the potato famine-does anyone know if it is at all possible to trace irish relatives due to the lack of records and could someone please give me a hand! Thanks, Michael
