I never throw away bits of paper that I have recorded something on, yes, I know they take up space but it has paid off. With such a common name, Robert Roberts, I thought I would not have any chance of finding him...but whilst rummaging around in my work folder I came across a post it note with 6 possible marriages for him that had been in there for months, and the first name on the note gave the bride as Jemima Bibby......this rang a very big bell in my mind. I turfed out the marriage cert of his son, who was married in 1868, and guess who the witnesses were ????????? Richard and Hannah Bibby. I know you are going to say...'Treat this with caution', but after almost two years in the doldrums with this family i feel I do have a break through that I can investigate. Never throwing away bits of paper with notes on was something I picked up from this site, so whoever it was who gave that bit of advice, thank you, thank you, thank you. Kathlyn |

Well done I also keep bits of paper and have found they do come in handy. Another thing I am pleased with myself about is not cancelling my membership to this site as today I have had contact with a second cousin who has shown me a picture of my Great Grandparents who were born 1847 which was taken around 1900, I have never seen them before and the best bit is my Dad has never seen a picure of them either and they died before he was born. I can't wait to see his face on Fathers Day on sunday when I pull this one out of the bag!!!!! The motto of the day has to be 'don't ever give up' And 'Sorry to hi-jack this thread' |
