I have a difficult task in finding my birth relatives as my father was married twice to two ladies with the same christian name. A member from his first marriage has supplied names of his siblings and after checking records they all have same birth mother as my birth father, and their father has the same name also.. The only way I can verify if he is the same man is to check his marriage certificate from his first marriage which I have ordered from Somerset House and see if his fathers details, occupation and his age match the marriage cert that I have of his second Marriage. I dont know how to find a divorce entry and would be grateful if someone could give any advice on a more accurate search, to see if we have the same man.. Regards Jacqui Fisher |

Just to reinforce what Clive has already said and to let you know there is a fee involved in having a search done The divorce records are a set of registers of decrees nisi and absolute, with their indexes. These are kept by the Principal Registry of the Family Division (PRFD), and are not accessible by the public. Instead, officials will carry out a paid search of the index, and certified copies of the decrees can be bought. You can contact them at: Principal Registry of the Family Division First Avenue House 42-49 High Holborn London WC2V 6NP Tel: 020 7947 6971 or (international) +44 7947 6971 Jay |
