My great-uncle Thomas Shipley also served in the Kings Liverpool Regiment---he died 1918. I have a copy of the war diary for this regt from march 1917 to Jan 1918. If you send me your address I will let you have a copy of this. My e-mail is [email protected] Don't get too excited though---it doesn't tell you much!! Wendy |

If he served after 1920, records WILL NOT be at National Archives. They will be with the MOD. |

Hi all My great grandfather was a regular soldier in the Liverpool King's regiment and served with them during WWI. I recently had access to his medals which included the Military Cross and the Medaille Militaire, which I have been told by some brilliant members on this site is a rare medal seldom awarded to British soldiers by the French. Naturally I am desperate to find out more about his career and service. I have acquired Gazette listings but no more. I don't have access to London and guess the best option is to employ a private researcher. However as he was still serving after 1920 will a researcher be able to access any records, or are they still held with the MOD. What should I do next? Advice would be welcomed. Chris |
