Do you know where your Grandad was born? Do you know how old he was when he died? Put these facts together and you should be able to find his birth certificate reference on Free BMD and if you send for that, with luck, you can discover the names of his parents. Don't rely on Hot Matches on here to find your relatives (especially with a Smith) ;-) Cheers, Horatia |

Michelle I have a George Smith in my tree who would be my Gt Grandfather. I don't know for sure where or when he was born but think it could be in the Warwickshire area. The only thing I know for definate is that he had a son named Frederick. Any chance it is te same as yours !!!!!! Christine |

Who did George marry? And when? You need to find the marriage registration, and buy the cert. It will tell you how old he was, plus the name and occupation of his father, which will be a basis on which you can start searching. You can only do it one step at a time.........making sure you have documentary proof at each stage. Reg |
