Three brothers named Wharton went to Belgium before WW1 as jockeys. They returned here during WW1 and WW2 but then went back to Belgium. Any idea how I can find out more about them, please?

I've never tried it but I think Cyndi's list has Belgium links....and possibly rootsweb too? Good luck Joan

Thanks Joan. Will follow up as suggested. Sorry to be so late with my reply. Must have just missed you last night. I had given up hope! Thanks again. Elizabeth.

From what I have gathered, there isn't much information online. You will probably have to contact the local archives and record offices. Here is a possible site: http://belgium(.)rootsweb(.)com I can speak Dutch so I may be able to help you if it's the Flemish part of Belgium. [The other part is French-speaking]. Do you know which part of Belgium they went to? What were their names; places and dates of birth? What do you want to know about them?

Wharton I suggest is not a Belgian name so a look in the White pages for Belgium reveals just one name who could be a descendant .... Wharton M. Rue Camille Lemonnier 26 1050 Ixelles Tel: 02 345 16 66 maybe a letter to this person will be the answer to your problem ?? but enclose an International Reply Coupon for the reply - you can buy them at major post offices.
