From what I've read, it was the toxins that were released by it that did the damage. Awful stuff. I only ordered it because my mum and I never even knew he'd existed until we found his grandparents grave with the memorial for him added. Very sad, he was buried in a public grave too. |

One of my sisters died that way at about the same date and age. My mother never got over it - and she lived another 50 years. Clive |

I had a death cert arrive today for my grandmother's 4 year old cousin who died in 1924. There were two causes listed one was Diptheric Laryngitis and the second was heart failure. I found this so sad, he was only four years old. I assume that diptheric laryngitis would be another term for diptheria and having looked that up, it sounds like a very awful way to die for such a little un. |
