Hi Can anyone help please? I have a will of 1656, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, of John COLCLOUGH alias ROWLEY, potter. He mentions his half brother William Colclough but also mentions 'my reputed half sister Margaret DRAKFORD alias ROWLEY' Do you think John will have been christened COLCLOUGH or ROWLEY? [Interestingly this John left his 2 cottages and other lands, all his potting boards, materials and implements to Thomas WEDGWOOD and his family. There are the ancestors of Josiah WEDGWOOD, which led to todays famous Wedgwood PLC ceramic company.] Carole |

Oh dear, and you missed out on all the dosh! typical, eh! Well, the aliases I have are a Rhoda Lawrence alias Horstead and her bro Thoams Lawrence alias Horstead. In this particular case they were born Horstead (illegitimately) and Lawrence is the name of the guy their mother went on to marry. Does that help?? |
