If you are lucky the certificate will read something like Pauline Tyler nee Blah and under occupation it may have the divorced/widow of and her first husbands name.

You don't need the first marriage cert to find out her maiden name. Her father's details will be on the cert you've ordered. Reg

1. you need to identify the record ofice/library that pertins to alvaston - choice of 3 -chesterfield,derby city or matlock. 2. electoral roles only viewable at these locations.same with regards to trade directories which give adresses and occupations... 3. work with what you know for definite and work back ..

The address her and Grandad were at in 1984 was 116, Shalfleet Drive, DE240US, Alvaston, Derby. Mum remembers them having a fish shop in Ilkeston at some point, but I dont think they lived above it. Does this make it any easier to find them? R x

Would it be possible to search a name and area then? Her name in the 60s before marrying my grandad and becoming Harrison was Pauline L Tyler and I believe that she was living in the Ilkeston or Alvaston area. I can give the address I know her and Grandad were at in 84 thats on his death cert if its possible to work backwards instead? she may have been widowed rather than divorced and she may have stayed in the same house? the only way you could possibly find the person on the role is by identifying a trade or address first, possibly from a cert-mariage cert would perhaps be best..DOB's are not on electoral roles except when they are about to appear in their first legal year of voting-ie when they were 20 or 17....the issue prior to voting. then you have the problem of moving -you have to track the names ....unless there is an unusual name involved there is a chance of assumptions being made.

Until you know what her name was, i am not sure quite what anyone would be able to look for anyway

Would anyone please be able to look for a Pauline Tyler in in the mid 60's please? I believe that she lived around Derby/Nottingham and would have been in her late 20s/early 30's. She married my grandad in 1972 (he would have been 35) and we believe (awaiting marriage cert to arrive.) she was his age or a little bit older. We also believe that she had already been married and had children. But I could do with Mr Tylers name so I can find her original marriage certificare and find her maiden name. Thank you very much Rebecca x P.S. known address for 84 is below....
