He may have been a farm labourer who took on the lease when his employer died. Is he at the same address for both censuses? OC |

1851 census shows Joseph Barlow as a 'farm labourer'...the 1861 has him as a farmer of 40 acres. All the children from the 1851 are there, place of birth etc. all there. How would he have come 'up in the world'??? Kathlyn |
