My husband's great-grandparents were John Henry Frost and Elizabeth Anne (nee Shaw). I have them on the 1891 census with their son Richard and my husband's grandmother Eva Lizzie. She married in 1899. I can't find John, Elizabeth or Richard on the 1901 census, or any deaths that could be them. I have tried to search for them in various ways. If anyone could help me locate them after 1891 I would be really grateful. Elizabeth was born in 1849 and John in 1850 (both born in Sheffield). Richard was born in 1874 - Sheffield.

I found Eva on the 1901 census, she married William Lamb... There is an Elizabeth Frost died age 52 in March 1893 registered at Wortley. A marriage for John Frost and Sarah Ann Hutchinson March 1901 and they are together in the 1901 census but not sure if that is your man as not same occupation. Regards Irene

Thanks all for your replies - sorry I didn't get back sooner, I have been cooking dinner for a hungry horde! Yes, William Henry Lamb was my husband's grandfather. I kept seeing the entry on the 1901 cenus with a Sarah A Frost and wondered about it because of the husband being John Henry Frost. I will have to investigate further. As I found previously, there are a lot of Frosts in Sheffield district, which has made research quite difficult. I wonder what happened to Richard Frost. Richard became a popular name for subsequent children in the Lamb family - Eva Lizzie must have been very fond of him.

Update - I have found two possible deaths. John H Frost born c 1851 Year of registration 1913 Jan-Feb-Mar age at death 62 Ecclesall Bierlow 9c 552 OR John H Frost born c 1850 Year of registration 1910 Apr-May-Jun age at death 60 Ecclesall Bierlow 9c 240 AND Elizabeth A Frost born c 1851 (slightly out) Year of registration 1914 Age at death 63 Ecclesall Bierlow 9c 489 If these are my people they should be on the 1901 census somewhere, but perhaps I shall never find them!
