Hello Reggie the childen off matthew and sarah have the same names as the children of Edward and Georgianna so I think I may have to follow that lead,my only concern is that I may never be able to say for definate that it is him.What route would you follow Reggie to take things further? Angie

Hello reggie I have them on the 1901 census and edwards age is 42 and georgiannas is 36 whcih ties in with their marriage cert. Edward was born in Hull and georgianna was born in suffolk, her maiden name was Hill. As the majority of our family hailed from Hull and surroundings I am assuming thats where Edwards father Matthew was from. Angie

Hello Reggie yes thats them as I have those details and Matthew Lees occ. was labourer which is like looking for a needle in a haystack although all the family have fishing/sailing connections.

Aggie, does the marrage certificate show an age ? This will give you a timescale to search for his birth certificate . If you can trace that , you will at least have his mothers info and probably his fathers . If your not on ancestry pm me the marrage certificate details and any other info you have and I will try to find out more for you. Kim xx

I have my grandfathers birth cert ,his fathers name is Matthew Lee and that is all I know about his father,dont know his mothers name or whether he had siblings-where on earth do I go from here? Angie

But the birth cert must name his mum?? havent seen one yet that doesnt, some dont name dad cos they were illegitimate but Mum??
