Family search in one village (Heather please?)

Back again and it worked this time - unfortunately didn't find what I was hoping for. It's never that easy! I also found that you can put in just a first name with the village and get a result. Probably could do the same with just a surname although I didn't try that. Thanks Sylvia and Heather. Jo |

Jo, Go to Search UK Collection (or individual census year). Leave ALL boxes empty except for entering the town/village name in either the Residence or Birthplace box. It works fine if you are looking for a small place .............. not so good for somewhere like Oldham, Lancashire when I got over 50,000 entries!!!!! Good luck! Sylvia |

Many months ago Heather started a thread about how she discovered how to find people on Ancestry, listed in one village or small town at any census. I have done a search of various obvious words at the top of this page but no thread has shown. Can anyone please remember how I can find the information. I thought I could remember what to do but Ancestry is not playing that game today. |
