Now at http://www.clive-buckle(.)co.uk/pieces.htm are the lists for missing census pieces for 1841, 1851 and 1861. Any comments please? Do not forget to remove brackets from web address. Clive

I loved your site, Clive, and have added it to my Favourites. Useful information re. the missing census entries, and I was interested in how you set out your Buckle ancestors. I might try something similar for my own personal use.

Thanks for that Clive, can I just add that some of my ancestors were on the damaged 1851 census records for Hulme (I think it was that area) yet someone kindly found a transcription of the damaged record some years ago and sent me that. So there is still a little hope re some of the damaged areas. However, they are not on ancestry so people may need to delve further.

Thanks Clive, that could be very useful, I think half my family must be in the missing censuses for 1851 Manchester, does anyone know if there is any site at all where maybe I could locate one of two of them. Thanks Marilyn

Someone kindly found my family in the Hulme (Manchester) area a few years back. I've copied it below for people who have relatives nearby can see the the source 1851 Census The original census return for Park Street, Hulme, is part of the really badly damaged stuff so this is from the FHS transcript, Fiche no. G162, page 29. 41 Park Street, Hulme: Thomas Blunt, Head, Married, 27, Carpenter, born Norfolk Sarah Ann Blunt, Wife, Married, 32, Dressmaker, born Lancashire, Salford Frederick Geo. Blunt, Son, 2, born Lancashire, Manchester Sarah Taylor, Mother-in-law, 59, Visitor, born Lancashire, Manchester

Chris Before adding the information you have provided I need to understand it myself. What on earth are the numbers? I do not say there are no names from the damaged pieces, only that parts are missing. On the 1861 page (I think) at the bottom I have given an example of the National Archives data which hopefully makes it clear. If I used all the NA info to complete the page I would be here next year typing up the page. Clive
