Can anybody please tell me how the above got onto my computer. Yes, i know thats sounds stupid - i bought my computer from a dealer and Windows was already installed, along with certain other things. Is adobe reader part of Windows or is it a seperate thing.? The reason i ask is that i am having problems with it, any file i try to download to read comes back telling me adobe not installed properly. It is shown on add/remove but if i unistall it how can i get it back again, is it a free downloadable programme? I seem to recall sometime ago downloading something to be able to read GRO pages, was that adobe reader? I know this all sounds very vague, i know what i mean but am finding it hard to explain Maureen |

I don't think it is part of Windows. You can certainly down load it for free.(I did this) If you type in Adobe Reader and click search, you can download that and various other free things from 'Google updater' Hope that makes sense. Alfie |

You'll find the latest version here: http://www.adobe(.)com/uk/products/acrobat/readstep2.html Remove brackets from the web address above. GR don't like you posting web addresses and thus make it difficult to post website addresses on these boards. Unless you specifically want it, don't forget to take the tick out of this option or you will get that as well. Also download: Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition Learn more. Cheers, Horatia |

Adobe Reader is used to open documents in pdf format. Documents are often in this format on the web as they can be opened on PCs and Macs. they can't be amended unless you have a pdf writer program (very few people do!) FTM can output its reports in pdf format too. While it is not part of Windows, it is installed on pretty much every PC because everyone needs it sooner or later. 1. Close ALL windows If you are getting strange messages: 2. Try Start > Programs > Adobe Reader If you can get into it: 3. Go to Help > check for Updates now Follow through the download and installation of all Adobe Reader updates... you will probably have to reboot (and possibly more than once) in this process You do not need to do any updates that are not for Adobe Reader. You are likely to be offered the Google Toolbar, Adobe Photoshop Album Starter... you don't need these. OR If you cannot get into it: 3. Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs Select Adobe Reader Click on <Change/remove> to uninstall. When the uninstall is complete, then Reboot and check everything is still OK. If it is you can download and install Adobe Reader yourself from here: http://www.adobe(.)com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html |
