Try the London Metropolitan Archives. Accorcding to their website, Woolwich was in the Borough of Greenwich. If you e-mail them, they might be able to give you some assistance.

Hi does anybody know how I go about finding out where a relative of mine is buried. I know when he died as I have his death cert and he lived in Woolwich London for most if not all of his life. You see as yet I have been unable to find his marriage or his birth even with the Kent local history sites help, so I wondered if I could find where he was buried it might have a date of birth on the headstone (if there was one!! lol) His name is Henry William Burnett and he died in 1918 at the Royal Arsnal Hospital and was living in Woolwich at the time. Is there a site which tells you the names and possible contact numbers of Churches/cemetaries in Woolwich? Thanks Tracie.

Hi Tracie, Have you tried the hospital? I would have thought he'd would have to give a home address when he was admitted, they may be able to help. Alternatively try the records office for the areas you know he lived in. I recently tried to find where my grandfather was buried and I contacted different record offices and libraries within the local area, I finally found him. so hopefully you will too. Remember our rellies don't always live or have lived in the areas we were led to believe. My mum was born in Doncaster yet she told me it was Nottingham??? Good Luck, Lou

Hi There is a Death for Henry W Burnett 2nd quarter 1918 in Woolwich 1D 1188. If this is your Henry the record says he was 52 years old when he died, this makes him born approx 1866.

Thanks Jo I already have his death Cert and have tried looking on ancestry and had help from the Kent Family History Group, and help from other GR members all trying to look for his birth in Woolwich. We did find a Henry Burnett born in St Luke but I have forgotten what year that was, but that is all we have been able to come up with and as I cant find his marrriage either I dont know who his father is, although on the 1871 I found a Henry Burnett born in Woolwich which appears to be the only one with fathers name of Henry and mother Harriet, which was a bit of a coincidence as a couple of his children have Harriet as a middle name, and they were living in the Dockyard area of Woolwich, which is where I believe my Henry 1864 grew up. lol, but this is all I have come up with so far. lol Thanks Tracie.
