Unfortunately, some people who take up this 'hobby' are not really suited to it.........it seems as though this person is one of them. Reg |

She did reply and say thank you, that's not the moan.....what I'm bewildered about is I gave her lots of useful information so she could go and get some certificates and find out lots more...that's what people are asking for aren't they??..information so they can take the next step. BUT, lilke lots of others, she takes that information and after a couple of hours looking at it decides she's hit a brick wall when she hasn't at all! ...so the next step is to ask for help again. Selena, A couple of months ago, I spen AGES helping someone, I took her family back decades - definately them, very unusual names. Not one word of thanks or even an acknowledgement that she had seen the info I had posted! I was so mad, I deleted all the replies I had posted and added another, saying why I had deleted all the info. Still no response!! That person is now on my blacklist. I know that some people may be new and don't understand how the boards work but it doesn't take long to realise! Sam x |

Sam & Jane, I'm with you there. I like to try and help as I have had so much help from members over the years. But sometimes you wonder if you have wasted your time when you get no response when you have offered suggestions etc, even if its to say its the wrong family. Moan over, Selena |

Hi Jane, I couldn't get onto Ancestry either half an hour ago, but I have just managed to get on, so you could maybe try again. As for people not responding on their own threads, well that's something that has been moaned about for years. I really don't know why people ask a question at a time when they can't hang about for at least 15 minutes. Most threads get a reply that quickly on this site, but such a lot of people ask something and then disappear for days. It is very frustrating, but there's nothing much we can do except have a little moan every now and again. Kath. x |

Sue Hope you don't mind if I join in the moan too - I have only recently felt confident enough to post info to questions about census look ups but today I have felt a bit put out as have done some searching and people just either don't check their threads or answer questions you have asked. Sorry - feel better after getting that off my chest Jane PS Ancestry is now not responding either, maybe I should go to bed!! |

I agree - it's really annoying that they don't even acknowledge the information that you have spent time and money finding for them! And then that they accept it without question - sometimes it makes me feel giving giving them a completely made up family and seeing what they do then!! Sam x |

While my tree is really in the doldrums I like to scroll the TTF board and help if I can. Today I found some very useful information for someone, birth reference that provided mother's maiden name and from that the parents marriage reference. Then a couple of hours later this person is on the TTF board again quoting the information I have just given and saying she has come to a dead end and desparately needs help! I just don't understand what they get out of it if they just accept everything some stranger tells them as fact. My advice was to get the certificates and get lots of lovely information. moan over Sue |
