Sorry Heather, didnt see your last message until this morning as I went Wretham Googling Mad until the early hours, lol. Wretham is not listed on The Norfolk Transcription Achives but East Wretham is, apparently this is what Wretham is sometimes referred as. Thanks again for your input. Cheers Dawn

Unfortunately Norfolk transcription archives dont list Wretham parish - lot of other Towlers there in Thetford area though.

Thanks Nicola Both you and Heather are thinking the same thing as I originally thought but I was put off by another Member of this Website who is tracing the same person - they really thought it said Wereham! Thanks Dawn

I guess he is brown bread in the next census is he? So we cant check that? Just looked again and def a th in the middle - looks like Wretham. Thats near Thetford area.

Hi. Anyone out there who has access to Ancestry could you please take a look at the place of birth for my Ancestor on the 1851 Census (Tottenhill, Norfolk). Search - Stephen Towler, b.1774, Norfolk. The place is transcribed as Westham, Norfolk - doesn't sound or look right to me. Any suggestions as to what you think it says would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Looks more like Wretham to me (Im in Norfolk by the way)
