My husband's great grandfather was Walter John May. He was born in Stisted, Essex in 1840 and I can trace him on every census from 1851 to 1901. In 1851 he was at bording school (Brunswick House School in Kelvedon). In 1861 he was living in a Boarding House and by 1871 he was married and had his own family. I can't find him in 1841 at all - he would have been about a year old. The problem is who was his mother? I have his father's name, William occu[ation farmer, from Walter's marriage certificate, but I am now at a loss as to how to trace him. Has anyone any ideas? Sandy |
