Hello all I've got my first death certificate through today and just have a couple of questions if anyone can help clarify; If some one is retired or unemployed what does it state in their occupation? My grandad died when he was 48 and it says he was of no occupation. It states that he was a printer 28 years earlier on his marriage certificate. He died in hospital of Cancer so he wasnt working at the time. I would of thought that youre last known job would be on there? Thank you

well the info is as the informant gave it . As he was only 48 he wasnt retired. Would say the informant said no occupation because he hadnt worked for a while due to his illness

The informant was his father and didnt live too far away so would have known his last occupation, unless he had been out of work for a while. I know he wasnt retired, i just wondered if anyone had any of someone they knew was retired and what it said in their occupation.

Mine say 'formerly ........) but it does just depend on what was told to the registrar, so if a distraught dad, said 'he wasnt working' then I guess they would just write unemployed.
