Question: what is difference between lodger & Boar

Census definitions were as follows:- Boarder - a person who shares the dinner table with the family Lodger - a person who has separate accomodation to the housegholder.

A lodger would in theory pay rent but could live separately to the family. A boarder would get meals. Neither needs to be related, my own son has a lodger in his apartment to help pay the mortgage! However, sometimes you may find they are somehow related - so worth making a note of them

I don't know if this is the right answer, but what i've noticed is if someone is a lodger they have ended up ( on further digging) being related Julie xx
