this is quite a tragic story but a common one in the 1900s, my g grandmother isabella or ella mcdonald was born in banff scotland in 1897, her parents andrew and annie took her to liverpool sometime before 1901,a sister was born on the 24thmarch 1901who they called annie, when annie was born they lived in no 7 rhiwas st toxteth, in 1905 while living in stanley st toxteth ellas mother was taken into the toxteth park workhouse suffering from tb she was 9months pregnant and died shortly after giving birth to her third child a son named albert, albert died two wks later on the 27th april 1905. on christmas day 1908 ellas father died in the southern hos age 36yrs leaving ella and annie orphans they were living at no5 gray st toxteth at the time. the trail then goes cold until 1915 when the sixteen yr old ella gives birth to my grandfather(she was unmarried and working as a domestic servant) she named her son ronald and he was adopted a few wks later by a mr and mrs goodlass who lived in tiber st, the trail then goes cold again, ive tried everything to find her including paying for a researcher from the liverpool records office but she disapears, does this story ring any bells for any mcdonalds out there? xx |
