Take it you have the pallots entry: Name: Esther Wallis Spouse: Jas Hubbard Marriage Date: 1822 Parish: Stepney St Dunstan In the 1841 ages were in most case rounded down to the nearest 5 - so it would be quite normal for a 44 year old to be recorded as 40. You need the baptism. Hopefully she was born in that area - you could try dockland ancestors parish records. You can search online for the surname in various dockland churches. If you enter just the surname for each likely church you can bring up anyone baptised (if they have the relevant records - its an on-going project). Ive had many from there, it gives parents and fathers occupation plus the address they are living at.

Hi just reading this part of Genes and wondered whether SKS can give me any tips on trying to go one step further and find my 3 x gt grandmothers parents. Unfortunately she only appeared on the 1841 census showing her age as 40, although I now know that this probably should have said 44, (copy of death certificate states age 50 at time of death in 1847). The trouble I have is that I dont know where or how to start looking for her parents, her parish marriage obviously doesn't state any parents and the 1841 census only says that she was born within the county!! I would love to go one step further to find her parents but where do I start. Any help would be appreciated. At the time of the 1841 census she was living at George Street, Shoreditch and her name was Esther Wallis who married a Hubbard. Thanking you in advance. Tina
