You could try scanning the original certificate (sellotape and all) and see what the copy looks like. If you can still read it, then I wouldn't bother ordering new. Kath. x |

Hi Jean I would say leave it alone,its all part of history if it was repaired long ago. I myself prefer to keep old pics as they are,scan them and use photo software to try and repair them.You need time and patience but they do get better with practice.Plus you still have the original just in case you mess up. Can anyone give advice please on how to deal with OLD sellotape on two original birth certificates from 1911 and 1913. The certificates have been 'repaired' with sellotape which has gone yellow and gungy - probably done in the 1940's. The certificates had been folded and had split along the folds, hence the repair with sellotape (or the 1940's equivalent). Is it possible to remove it or is it best left alone? Any help would be appreciated. Jean |
