Last year, our local paper reported the deaths of a married couple.......both very elderly........within five hours of each other. They were in separate hospital wards, and the husband........who died second..........had not been told of the death of his wife. Reg

Sam, I have a family back in 1861 where the father ,mother and 3 of the children all died in the last 2 quarters of the year, so yes it is very possible, the same thing has happened with your relatives. Nicky

I would imagine death certs would be the best way to prove it, but it is not uncommon for couples to go together (accident, or dare I say it suicide pact), also there is up to 3 months between them - people do die of a broken heart which manifests itself on a death cert into something else, probably natural causes in somebody elderly. And there are couples where both are seriously ill. Duncan

Hi Sam I have couple's that have died in the same year, same quarter, usually older couples, and from their death certificates they have just died from old age....so perhaps they just couldnt live without each other? Of course yours could have been in an accident...but you wont know till you order the death certificates. happy hunting

Depends when it was sam. There were many epidemics which could wipe out a family one at a time.
