Following the interest in Apprentices Records on another thread, I thought I would post this separately. Cornwall Family History Society have a publication entitled APPRENTICES' INDEX My copy is dated 1992 - my mother died 3 years ago and probably purchased it before 2000. It is alphabetical by SURNAME. Each surname has a Christian name followed by the date of indenture and the relevant CRO (Cornwall Record Office's) document reference number. Apparently there is a second, companion volume relating to the apprentices' Masters. The first part of the reference number indicates the parish (a list of parish references is given at the front) and the second part is the CRO reference which will guide you to the CRO holding.

I have just copied this across from the other Apprentices thread. Clive Added by Elizabeth Lamb on 25/06/2007 09:22:12 For Apprenticeship records it might be worth contacting the local family history society. The reason I say this is that I have in my possession an APPRENTICES' INDEX for CORNWALL which is a Cornwall Family History Society Publication. My mother bought it when she was researching our Quintrell branch. It is alphabetical with dates and references.
