Help in finding a death please

I have been searching for the death of my Aunt Annie Eliza Sherratt. She was born in Poplar in 1887 and married a John Albert Sherratt. Annie is the informant on his death certificate in March 1956 and I cannot find her death (or even another marriage for her). I have 2 incorrect certificates and hope perhaps someone can see what I am missing. The 2 I have so far are Ann Sherratt 1963 Woolwich and Annie Sherret 1962 West Ham. Any help would be appreciated. If you know she must be there and haven't found her in the GRO index images, you may have to consider radical alternatives e.g.... 1] Her record didn't make it from local to central - less likely with modern systems 2] Her (sur)name has been mistranscribed in the system - as is the case with my own marriage record! Thank you Christine. I have just found 2 more listed an Annie E. Sherring aged 59 in 1957 Bethnal Green (I have found that the E stands for Elizabeth on the 2 incorrect certificates) and also an Annie Eliza Sherratt born 21 June 1887 but in Delyn in 1979. Have no idea where Delyn is.

I would think that Wales definately rules out my Annie as all of her siblings lived in and around Poplar. Perhaps I should try the one with the incorrect spelling of Sherring as the age is the right time and Bethnal Green not too far away. Many thanks for all your replies. Jo

The sherring one hasn't the right age. Don't assume that because it's not the expected area that the Deryn one is wrong. Did they have children? Perhaps she went to live with one of them? She may not have stayed in poplar after her hubbies death. Another avenue could be to search the electoral register for the address they were at when he died and move forwards to see how long she stayed there. That's one way of ruling out the bethnal green one too if she's still there in 1958.

I would choose the right surname over the SHERRING one. regardless of area. She could have gone to stay near family, been on holiday..or any number of reasons could have taken her 'out of area'. Gwyn

Thank you Liz and Gwyneth. I do not think they had any children as I searched the births from when they married and found none listed. Yes you were right about the Sherring one being the wrong age I hadn't picked that one up - I think after a while the brain closes down. I have to admit that the Delyn one does fit the bill but to my knowledge there was no family there - however perhaps I ought to take a chance and order this certificate. I obtained my Uncles birth certificate today and all along had been looking for an Albert (no second name that I knew of) after many incorrect certificates I have found it as just Berty. I would never have thought of looking for that as all the siblings have had a first and second name and none abrieviated as this. Just goes to show its not always what it seems. Thank you everyone for your help.
