Aliens... that's our explanation. Been looking for my mother's father. Looks like he appeared out of nowhere, got married and vanished right back where he came from. We used Traceline in the end and finally got a Death Cert for him, but still no idea when or where he was born. Some of them just really don't wanna be found. Liz

Hello Scarlett like talking to my daughter her name is scarlett! This is what i have very confusing so bear with me, My ggreatgrandma was Isabella Hurtley (maidenname) she was born in 1837 in Silsden, Yorks (consistent throughout census 61 to 81) she married Fred Cook in 1858 Burnley, lancs her name on bmd is mistranscribed Hartley i know it was Hurtley because of marriage annoucment in paper and also for her childrens birth certificates. On her marriage her father is named as Thomas Hurtley boatman she had a definate brother James Hurtley born 1839/40 he married in 1871 Burnley. (i ordered his mar cert and the same father) just to be sure. i think ive found them in 1841 in the parish of Silsden, James is there but Isabella isnt, but i think her name has been put down as eliza? same father, same occ Now no trace of any of them in 51 census and no trace after. only Isabella because she married in 1859 and james for the same reasons.(he cant be found in 51 and 61 census anywhere) they did have siblings Allice. Sarah and Jonas where did they all go? its difficult as the surname may have been mistranscribed to hartley instead, ive tried for 3 years now and nothing matches. Thomas Hurtley was a boatman, so its poss that they were missed because they lived on the canal? also james had 7 children but try as i might, searches, trying to find the lot nothing comes up. Thanks Sharmala.
