I've just managed to trace an old friend of my mother's from 60 years ago. They're talking on the phone right now! It's fantastic! And after all these years it turns out that Pauline lives only 15 minutes drive from my mother near Guildford. (cont...) |

Undoubtedly they will want to meet up this weekend. My mother's going to phone me back after the call which will no doubt go on for some time, but this is where you could help me. Does anybody know of a really nice pub where they could meet up, between Weybridge and Guildford? |

Sorry,I don't know that area. How about a thread on General too. If you mention ...Pubs... in the title, someone is bound to notice. How lovely for the ladies to be able to meet up. Gwyn |

How wonderful for your mom, Paul! I too found an old friend through Genes, We grew up together, started school together then said goodbye at the age of 9 when I emigrated to Canada. That was in 1952. I found her through Genes and the emails flew between us, Unfortunately there's no pub halfway between us. It would have to be in the middle of the Atlantic! Margaret |

The Good Pub Guide mentions the 'Keystone' and the 'White House' in Guilford whilst www.beerintheevening.com has 95 pubs in Guilford alone listed with user ratings that might give you some ideas -use the site and you can also search by location and might come up with even more!! |
