Hiding Living Relatives

Rebecca is missing the point. The names in your tree are shared via the search facility even if you share your tree with no one. If you opt to hide the relatives, that only applies to the tree that you have shared: the index is still searchable, and if, for example you want to identify a particular 'Living Unknown' in a shared tree, you just search for the name, and GR helpfully shows you which 'Living Unknown' in the tree is the right one. Hide? In what sense?

Thanks people - guess I will continue just sending relevant info to those interested

or just not share your tree? Why should you mess all your hard work around - you can give most people the info they need without sharing your tree and you could always email extra bits? Rebecca

You should delete all the living relatives from your tree, or replace their names with the word 'living' or something similar, because the 'hide living relatives' function doesn't work properly. You shouldn't have living relatives on your tree at all without their permission.

Bear in mind that people can still search on the names. I have no problem with this, but some think that the names should be removed from searches as well. However if you give them access to your tree, they will see the name replaced by the text 'Living'
