To all that have helped in this thread here is the conclusion. I got the marriage certificate today and father is down as Timothy ,quite how you get murphy from timothy i don't know must have been the bottle of whiskey the transcriber had before hand. Going by what I can read on the document, Kitty was born in 1837. I'll have a look and see if I can find her birth ref. Deb:) No luck. I've searched for a Catherine/Katherine Bussey b c1837. Nothing for her on Pallots either. Sorry. |

Ok, that's hard to read! Here's what I have: (looks like they started to write 'Tho'(mas?) but then it's changed to be possibly Timothy although the end looks like 'phy' or maybe even the 'sshy' - perhaps someone was a lazy speaker when they said Timophy *grins*no idea how they came up with murphy though) 40 - cotton mill - not born of that county Mary 40 - not born of that county. Mary 15 - servant Timothy 40 (same as first maybe they rewrote it because they realised how illegible it was? but then this Timothy is of the same county) M?? 9 (male but can only make out that M - presume this is the one they think is William) Emma 6 The 4 year old... looks like a Thi but not Thitty as it's transcribed... not sure what though. Man who ever wrote that shoulda had their fingers slapped, perhaps he wasn't sure of the 9 year olds name and rather than asking again he just made a squiggle lol. |

Bufsey would be Bussey. Dressmaker would have been written as drefsmaker. It does look like both Timothy are shown as age 40 but given the order they are listed he is probably younger Oh dear just taken another look - could there be three Timothy - 40,40 and 4 ? |

I am interested in Mary Bussey born 1826 and married thomas hart but in 1841 census i can't make out the rest of the family. i do think it has been mistranscribed due to the fact i can only find 1 of the siblings after 1841.that being timothy. Mary bussey born 1826 st giles Timothy Bussey 1801 st giles but believe this to be 1826 also. any help gratefully recieved 1841 census ho107/673 folio 7 page 6. |
