That doesn't sound too bad, does it Sylvia? I am looking forward to getting my info. If you only get one thing from it,it is certainly better that trawling through a graveyard looking for headstones! It's not a lot of cash to risk. I wonder if any other entrepreneurs will start something like this in other parts of the country!!! Brenda x x |

I have just received an email off cemsearch about what you get and this is what they said:- With the exception of Wheatley Lane, which are one line entries from the burial registers (but showing all names within the grave) all our reports come from recording the headstones themselves. Generally, with the names you will receive dates of death and age at death along with any relationships between the people in the grave. Sometimes there will also be dates of birth, address, occupations, cause of death (particularly if this was as a result of an accident). Occasionally, there are memorium inscriptions for people who have died and been buried elsewhere. The reports for Weaste, Colne and Tyldesley have the complete inscriptions from the headstone including verses, all the other cemetery reports just have the basic facts recorded from the headstones. Have just ordered a surname search for £6 and, having read further details, you get everyone with that surname for £6.So if the name is Smith you could get hundreds to sift through, which I don't think is bad value. They will e-mail within 48 hrs. I don't know if they do this search on any other site or areas outside Lancs, but,it could be very helpful. Will post details when I receive it. Brenda x x My search is in Weaste Cemetery. |

Hiya, I paid £6 for the surname I wanted from Burnley cemetery and I received 38 pages. Well worth it and each gravestone was transcribed in good detail. Prior to this I had been at the cemetery to do this myself but surprisingly the name was very common and after 6 hours in the rain I gave up. The friend I went with asked at the cemetery office and was given 19 pages for nothing. |

THanks for giving this site, looks interesting,as I remember the family years ago talking about Weaste Cemetery. I've just looked up one name, and it's not a very common one,and I have 5 graves....total 19 people.and wonder if you have to pay for each grave, which would make it costly!! If they are not all from my tree, that's taking a big chance! Brenda x x |

Hi Sharmala I know what you mean about cost. I know its only £6 but with everything else it mounts up to hundreds over time. I was hoping that you get the transcribed headstones for the particular surname of interest but its not clear at all. I think I will have to ring them and ask. I'll let you know how I get on for the benefit of anyone else that is interested thanks Sylvie |

Hi all, I found some surnames of interest in Weaste cemetery (Salford) on the cemsearch website and wondered if anyone else has paid the £6 they are asking for the results and what information do you get for your money as it doesnt really tell you. Thanks Sylvie |
