Last weekend I met up with first cousins I didn't know existed and we compared notes - obviously our stories were very different. I now need to find the death of our grandfather which would probably clear a lot of questions up. This is the run down that I have and know is correct: Grandfather: Charles Samuel Arnold born 06.03.1878 Bishopsgate. He married Ellen Louise Turner born 1880. The marriage was Dec. 1897 in Shoreditch. Ellen died 22.09.1940. I can't find the death of my grandfather but do know it was around 1954 in S London. Can anyone find his death registration for me. I have searched Ancestry. Lin

Hi Lou sometimes less is more when you order a certificate...the informant may not have known the middle name was Samuel and put Sam instead etc..and the gro im afraid are very precise with what you order......obviously this is just a thought. Im afraid im shattered so I cant look anymore at the moment, good luck with your research.

That has to be the death because that puts his birth around 1878. If you look at births for Charles S Arnold on FreeBMD, there's only yours that matches. The closest others are 4 years away. Rose

Rose, when I ordered the cert. I didn't ask for any checks to be made they did that automatically and charged just £3.50 for the search. If I order again it's another £7.00 and they may do the same again. Linda

You must have specified a middle name of Samuel for them to do that. Just order it exactly as it is in the references: Charles S Arnold. Rose
