Help/Tips with adoption information

I am trying to locate an aunt that was adopted between approximately 1946-1950 in the Nottingham area. At this stage the only information I have is that she was born to Rose Lilian Arnold nee Titterton between 1946-1950. Rose was remarried again in about 1950, to Herbert Currill. Another aunt can remember her mum, Rose, taking this baby to a house in Nottingham and not coming out with her. I'm not sure where to start looking for information, any ideas? L x

Hi Lisa, You could try contacting SS in Nottingham to see if they can find any trace of the adoption, even if it was private the should be court records if the adoption was official, not sure if it is your Aunt how helpful they would be though as it is a more distant relative, would her sisters be interested in tracing her. Sheila p.s. you could try finding her birth name on Ancestry. try searching the 4 years you mention, for a female born Titterton mmn Arnold, there are obviously a few as you have other Aunts but your looking for someone you can not account for now.

NORCAP can be helpful.

Sheila, Forgot to mention I have already searched on Ancestry, with no joy....not even my mum or her (known) sisters come up. I've checked the years 1945-1950 and earlier, I've checked by not putting in the surname, only mothers maiden name...and still nothing! My mum is interested in making contact with her half-sister, so it might be worth her contacting SS. And thanks Romany Star, but I can't really afford the £50 that NORCAP charge to join. Thanks again L x
