Just checking - have you made contact with the others researching that surname in here? http://www.suffolk-surnames-list(.)co.uk/

Thanks for that OC. I do leave surnames out when searching on a batch number, but I understand what you say about them maybe not being all one family. As you say, it's a good start to research though. Kath. x

Kathleen and Clive 'Batch surfing' will bring up all children born to people with the same names - doesnt mean it is the same couple though. But it is a very good start. Because the Vicar didnt always put the wife's maiden name in the records, I always leave her maiden name out. I would pencil in the children from this batch, for now, with a note saying they are not PROVEN children (although it does seem likely) until you have better evidence one way or the other. OC

Clive, I only got the list of children by clicking on the batch number at the bottom of the page for Joseph's christening and then putting the parents names in as James and Sarah. It's what I was led to believe would give you all children born to the same couple. Perhaps I'm wrong about this. UPDATE - I'm not the best person to ask about new websites, as I'm only any good with things I know, but it did seem quite good and I managed to find your Joseph Cattermole, with wife Elizabeth Denny and their descendants, so it must be reasonably easy to use. Thanks Kath but .... How is it that I apparently obtained different answers from you? In two cases my version specifically said Sarah Chatten but not in the others. You also appear to have obtained more people - I had loads who were children of Joseph Junior or John. By the way after a struggle http://www.sweffling.org.uk/ is now up and running. Any comments please? Clive
